In the big picture sense, however, the season has served as a much-needed corrective to the earlier pattern of Frank too easily getting his way. The strained relationship between the Underwoods has been front and center for most of the season, and here Claire finally reaches her breaking point.

Their marriage was meant to be a partnership, but only Frank has reaped the rewards. What this episode makes clear is the extent to which the supporting characters exist merely as plot points to advance the story of the Underwoods. Wedding Congratulations greeting cards. He meets her in the Oval Office , and says that he will absolutely need her to come out to New Hampshire the following day. Claire lights a cigarette, and says that their marriage has been unfair to her—sacrificing her goals for his—similar to what happened in Chapter 4 , Season 1 , when Claire was angry about not being allowed to accept donations from SanCorp , due to them wanting something from Francis.

He retorts by saying that they achieved the presidency together and that he has consulted her on every decision he made. She responds by emphasizing how it is every decision he makes; Claire's goals were not at the forefront, such as her job at the United Nations. Instead of asking that Francis fire her, she says that what disgusts her more is that she needed him in order to be hired—the dependency on someone else.

She then brings up what happened in the hotel in Iowa, and how Francis was not able to give her what she wanted. So, first things first — did I like the season? Yes, I really did. I think a lot of the people that are disappointed expected the second coming of Heisenberg this season. But in many ways this season was always going to be about the illusion of the Presidency — the illusion of power.

And what it means to be Commander in Chief. The following is a review of the thirteenth and final episode of season three. Expect spoilers in the plot description. One final hour until the end of the season. What is Claire saying? Will Frank take Iowa? Come and find out!

  7. Graeme Jefferies - Messages for the Cakekitchen () 'Messages for the Cakekitchen ' was the first and last Graeme Jefferies album to be released under his own name. With songs reminiscent of his work in This Kind of Punishment, ' Cakekitchen ' announces itself with quiet urgency, but the facade is transparent; under the surface of its baroquely textured beauty lies a palpable menace.
  8. Actress seems to be doing that do a certain extent, but what makes me love this album so much is the way the beats seem to bounce off each other and build, like each beat is trying to one up the last. I could be way off in trying to describe these sweet sounds, but that's an attempt. Like Scuba's Triangulation, this is really proving to me that.
