For this special occasion Hulen and SEIGMEN announced not one, but in total four gigs in a row recreating the four gigs that took place here throughout the 90ies, in , , and The area in front fits about - people, with additional bar areas spreading throughout the cave. On that first night the doors opened at 8pm and the show was about to start at pm. Though at the beginning the crowd spread all over the venue, when the lights were turned off and the intro started the space in front of the stage filled in very quickly and a tense waiting was to perceive all over the place.
The unusual to most other concerts appearance from behind and going through the crowd to get to the stage was the first element that made the shows so different from what we were used to.
There is just no backstage behind the stage due to the structure of the cave and so the band entered the stage from behind. The show is somewhere between Punk Rock and Metal.
A surprising, though really cool outfit fitting in the time in A real time travel back to the roots. The band leaves the stage after this the same way they came - through the audience. What more to come? The performance is convincing and pure and the band and fans having fun all together resurrecting that memories.
Setlist Simone Monsun Right after that, Seigmen got a contract with , which was meant to be Sony Music Norway's under label for alternative music, in a time when Nirvana, Soundgarden and Smashing Pumpkins had started to move the boundaries for what could sell. On the spring of , Rock Furore was already going to an end, we didn't just know it yet.
We were tired, we made little or no money, and started to sense that the revolution would be eaten up, without us being on the train. We answered a little grumpy and just wanted to be finished with the new edition, that we always were behind with.
And there, while hanging over our computers, we suddenly heard the opening tunes to the song that would bring Seigmen out to the big audience: a couple of beats into "Hjernen er alene", everything else than the sound of the song and the music were shut out, like a big bird of prey had just flew into the room; like everything we searched suddenly got a shape and color. The rest is - in good and bad ways - history.
It is the story about one of the finest groups Norwegian rock has ever produced, and the sound of moments when everything sounded possible. It is a story that goes from the brilliant "Total" to the monster "Metropolis" to the dishonored "Radiowaves". It is a story that stops abruptly in , like the rails suddenly ends, and that you now can follow on this double DVD.
Seven years can be an eternity in the music business. That is a reminder of the band's big importance to the history of Norwegian rock, but also the soundtrack to a past that will never come back. A time that Seigmen contributed by giving meaning and direction, shape and color, wings and claws. They added to the pragmatical Norwegian music scene, a nourishing dose of theatrical sorcery, youthful riff muscles and flaps of wings from old myths. About the success: "You don't get the same relationship with the audience, you don't get the same sparkle, you start to fight within the band and you get unnecessary heavy drinking.
Things become so unnecessary! My closest friend was standing there for me like a steady mountain. That meant everything to me. That was what held me up and kept me carry out my decision: To end the chapter and start another one. Five minutes left. I'm standing with the lights department on the mixing tower.
In front of me there is an ocean of people and the expectations are sky high. The pulse is high. Days of preparations, months of planning and years of patient waiting suddenly have culminated into this one moment. Now everything have to work, nothing must fail. Far out to the left, animator Tosse and technician Per are ready to operate the walls with LED lights. Kermit, permanent lights technician through many active years is standing next to me as usual while operating the moving light.
I'm looking nervously down at the mixing board which controls the rest of the lights. How will this go, I have barely touched a light board since the end of the nineties.
Here you can see the practice room some months before the concert while the band is working on getting ready and heal old wounds. Here are lots of bonus stuff like music videos, picture gallery, old live clips and private filming of the recording of "Metropolis". To top this, you get a definitive and honest documentary of Seigmen from the start in until it was finished ten years later, told by the guys themselves and people being close to them.
