In July , Brian Eno found himself a few days and several thousand dollars into a studio booking with nearly nothing to show for it. His first two solo albums, Here Come the Warm Jets and Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy , had reimagined glam rock as sound sculpture and established Eno not just as a practitioner of pop, but a theoretician of it: Someone whose music doubled as a blueprint for how music could be made.

In interviews he came off as part drag courtesan and part professor emeritus, scissoring his legs in feathers and sequins while dishing about the thrills of aleatoric composition, shaping ideas few people had heard before into forms anyone could understand.

Jets and Tiger Mountain bookended a year—November to November —during which Eno released three other, collaborative albums. At the time he conceived of Discreet Music , just a few months before he found himself panicked on the studio floor, Eno was lying in a London hospital after being hit by a taxi. It is highlighted by a fantastic guitar solo by Robert Fripp which simply must be heard. The first 3 songs capture the essence of this recording without being either the best or most interesting on the album!

All the remaining music are fresh - original and very much in tune with the varieties of sound you will hear in the above songs. In summary, this album is simply one of the finest recordings every made and I highly recommend it. A: We Are Devo! Collaborative albums by artist. Roxy Music For Your Pleasure. Although long numbers are certainly no rarity in rock, the music was weaned on two- or three-minute performances. This artist is quite comfortable with this structure and content to stay with it. Eno insists on risks, and that they so consistently pan out is a major triumph. I usually shudder at such a description, but Another Green World is indeed an important record — and also a brilliant one.

Another Green World is the third studio album by English musician Brian Eno (credited simply as "Eno"), released by Island Records in September Produced by Eno and Rhett Davies, it features contributions from a small core of musicians including Robert Fripp (guitar), Phil Collins (drums), Percy Jones (fretless bass), and Rod Melvin (piano). 3. Over Fire Island ( Digital Remaster) 3 St Elmo's Fire ( Digital Remaster) its Eno's "Another Green World". But I actually am in the minority here on this one. The bulk of the playing on this album is by Brian Eno himself, either on guitar or any of a host of keyboards, or percussion. He is otherwise supported by guest /5().

  5. A universally acknowledged masterpiece, Another Green World represents a departure from song structure and toward a more ethereal, minimalistic approach to sound. Despite the stripped-down arrangements, the album's sumptuous tone quality reflects Eno 's growing virtuosity at handling the recording studio as an instrument in itself (à la Brian Wilson)/
  6. I have the Editions EG reissue Eno* - Another Green World and was skeptical to buy this one, because I usually don't buy the same album twice, but the reviews made me curios. To be on the short side: I don't know if those were the limitations of the 70's, but the reissue I have sounds like a lo-fi version of this remaster and when I bought the.

  8. “Over Fire Island” features Phil Collins’s (of Genesis) unwavering drumming while Eno darts in and out with sliding synthesizer notes and a prepared tape. A tremoloed hiss quickly comes and.
