That's pretty much when I mean when I say that. I know it has great reviews but I feel that it's not universally recognized as outstanding work. I agree. It was critically acclaimed, but I feel like people hardly mention it among their favorites. It's a fantastic album. Some albums I believe are must haves or at the very least, must listens.
There's too many great albums to list but these are some of my favorite and I tried to cover a few different genres. Love Hot Thoughts, picked it up at release. Popping in the new J Roddy tonight, can't wait These guys were the support act at a gig I attended earlier in the year and I fell in love with their sound. Ugh what stupid post. I hate things like this. How can you just say to get "an album you like" in your top 5 and not even mention "this album that I like".
I get sick of Death Cab easy but man does Transatlanticism bring back memories, great recommendation. I didnt really listen to that many albums this year, it was mostly EP's and smaller projects, but i thought that Im Good on People deserved an honorable mention. Everyone's answer is going to be a bit different but in terms of what's "expected" of a record fan to have I'd say the following:.
I got Kid A earlier this week, and I was struck by how great it sounded on vinyl! Definitely gave me a newfound appreciation for the album. In Rainbows sounds great on my player too! I really hope they bring that and the rest of them to vinyl. Hate to break it to you, but it already dropped. Oh god damn it. I went to this page like a week ago and it didn't even load. Well, there's been some twitter talk from them about vinyl. I wish spontaneous gift giving was more common. New it is expensive.
Search hard enough and you will be able to find it used for a reasonable price. Quick discogs search showed that theres tons of pressings a large amount of them go for 30 to 50 usd. Picked it up around 2 months ago. You can probably find one for the same price if you dig enough. It depends. Old pressings are pretty cheap, newer ones are relatively expensive. My copy came from my grandpa. Don't you dare shit on goodness it was different but it was still damn good.
End of Reel and soft animal are top Hotelier songs for me. Can you recommend any other bands similar to them? Their new style is controversial but I still dig it. Also, the band Jawbreaker is the OG emo band for any fan of the emo revival and influenced just about every band you can think of in the genre.
We have a lot of similarities in our taste. Now, all those I could have expected any music fan to have but the one I could not have expected to see was the old Petra stuff. Some pretty obscure stuff in there too like the Jars of Clay I love that album. So under appreciated. My dad got that album when I was a kid, and we kept it sealed until I opened it and played it just a few years ago. What an album. Much Afraid into Hymn to end the album Minus a lovely little hidden track is just such a lovely little ending.
I had no idea "Much Afraid" was on vinyl. Definitely my favorite Jars of Clay album. Great collection OP. Happy to see The '59 Sound.
Absolutely love Gaslight, bummed I couldn't catch them on their most recent tour. They played in my best friends garage on their first tour in with the riot before and make do and mend. I pre-ordered that album, was kind of pissed when it was delayed. Boy, was it worth the wait though.
What a staple of being an early teen. Upvote for High Violet! Saw The National in September for the first time. They put on one hell of a show. I play mine at least twice a week, the quality is phenomenal.
Between all the brass and his vocal range, you get it all. I've been contemplating grabbing a copy for a while. I'll definitely have to keep my eye out for one now. My dad gave me those Petra albums. He got them all growing up, and I absolutely love having them. Come And Join Us is so good. Hell yea. I think he and Winters knocked it out of the park with that one. Is there any chance you could write out all the album names?
