To successfully digitise your vinyl to a digital file you need hardware and software. For now, what hardware do you need? A cheap, bare bones ADC that will do the job and outputs a sampling rate of 48kHz only.

Of course, you will need to already have a turntable and phono amp but, if you already have these items, the AU-D4 ADC is an ideal budget digitisation option. To improve sound quality, you might want to investigate replacing the supplied power supply with something of better quality.

This is a good quality phono amplifier for use with any moving magnet cartridge. The key addition for this feature, though is the addition of a USB interface allows you to easily transfer vinyl to your computer. It arrives in a sturdy extruded aluminium case.

The compact PP 4 is another stand-alone ADC but, unlike the Rega, the phono amp module situated inside the chassis, not only handles a moving magnet cartridge but also supports moving coil which, for a box of this price, is not bad going.

It also features a USB port and a free cable to boot. Not a bad direct drive turntable, Audio Technica has a great reputation in terms of the quality of its cartridges. The addition of a USB output adds value to the package.

Other features include three speeds at 33, 45 and 78rpm and a removable hinged dust cover. Would a fuel pump make a humming sound if diaphragm is bad What else could be wrong? Wurlitzer BP hums, no sound from keys , PM. I just picked up a free Wurlitzer BP today. The owner said that the cable for the volume pedal had broken about 2 years ago, but up until then it worked fine.

It appeared to be a moderately simple fix though I know very little about organs , so I picked it up. It turns out pressing the bass keys does work, at least somewhat: the pitch of the hum changes, though it doesn't sound like an organ. Pressing the keys on the upper manuals doesn't do anything.

After reading a couple posts on here, it seems this might be an issue with power supply capacitors? How easy is that to fix? I think one of the wires might have also come loose under the volume pedal too. Tags: None. Re: Wurlitzer BP hums, no sound from keys Make certain the tubes in the amplifier section are good.

A 5U4, two 6L6's, and a 12AX7. The expression pedal works a potentiometer underneath the pedal by means of a cloth cord. It is common for the cord sort of like the dial cord on old radios to rot and break from age and use. Comment Post Cancel. On the door in the back that swings out, there were two 12AX7 tubes on the outside, and a 5BC3 and two tubes on top next to what appeared to be two very large capacitors with metal casings the numbers started with C.

I didn't see any other tubes close to the amp. Magnetic field interference can mess with particular cartridges. Play around with the positioning of your turntable — as far away as possible from the rest of your equipment is ideal.

This may require a less aesthetically pleasing positioning of your turntable, but can often fix the annoying turntable hum problem. Name required. Mail will not be published required. Check the RCA cables that plug in to your amp/preamp, the tonearm wires and especially the cartridge connections. Often they can be loose. You can further troubleshoot the cartridge wires by connecting the {blue and white} and {red and green} wires together using an alligator clip. This should eliminate the hum.

  1. Re: Wurlitzer BP hums, no sound from keys Many old tube organs are being parted and there are numerous auctions on Ebay for tubes. The ones you refer to as expensive are usually resales after someone has won a lot. Watch for whole organ listings where you get multiple tubes (sometime more than a dozen) at a time and you'll get the best deal.

  3. Kimball Swinger Power, Hum, but no Sound , AM. Hello everyone, Power off, one hand rule, no jewelry etc. This organ has no resale value, so I would make sure I really like it before I spent a lot of money on it. Most likely it's related to the amplifier, but if you've had a power surge at your house due to lightning or something this could have caused a different and more serious issue if it wasn't properly protected.
